Rivet Chino Infantry Khaki Cramerton Cloth

Cramerton Army Cloth is one of our all-time favorite chino fabrics. Not only is it historically significant, but it is supremely hard-waring and comfortable. Cramerton Army Cloth was first manufactured in 1929 for the US Army by Cramerton Mills in North Carolina. The cloth became the standard uniform fabric for the American forces fighting abroad in WWII. When the GIs returned home and enrolled in universities across the country, they brought their uniform trousers with them—this time pairing them with oxford shirts and blue blazers, rather than army jackets, and a new civilian uniform was born.

The fabric is 100% cotton and a year-round 9oz weight. It softens and fades beautifully with age. In the world of chino twills, we've found this to have more character than any other fabric. Like your favorite jeans, its wearable in warm or cooler temps. This color is a perfect medium khaki tone.

The Rivet Chino is our signature casual trouser. We are confident that it will be among the finest pants that you've ever worn. It has the slim, tapered profile and medium-low rise of a jean, but the traditional pockets of a trouser.

In keeping with the "vintage" look, the outseam is a sturdy folded lap seam. These do not have our typical Rivet Chino herringbone taping inside. The fabric is pre-shrunk and run though an enzyme wash for softness and a slightly faded look. It's pressed with a slight crease (just like in the army), but that can be pressed out by a dry cleaner if it's not your style. One rear pocket is button-thru and the other has no button (a throwback detail). And the bottom is unfinished.

Its unlined waistband is pitched for a close, comfortable fit. A chain-stitched rear lap-seam ensures the hard-wearing seam durability of a jean while maintaining the subtle seaming of a trouser. A heavy-gauge brass zipper and blue oxford cotton pocket bags finish it off.

Measurements & Sizing

The sizing and shape of the Rivet Chino are true to size. These particular chinos have been pre-washed to remove shrinkage. Yo can expect them to stretch up to .5" in the waistband after a few wears.

All measurements below are taken with the pants laid flat. Waist is measured across the top of the waistband while the front portion is laid over the back. Rise is measured from the intersection point of the crotch seams to the top of the front waistband. Inseam is measured from the same point at the crotch to the leg opening. Thigh is measured from the lowest point of the crotch across the leg. Knee is measured across the leg from 13" below the crotch intersection.
