Our Commando sweater offers the classic look of a military surplus staple with the convenience of washable wool, the sharp fit of an Epaulet garment, the luxury of genuine Scottish lambswool, and the uncompromising quality of Johnstons of Elgin. We're absolutely thrilled to offer this exclusive pre-order project to you!
Simply put: this is the best commando-style sweater that you'll find. We're offering six colors of washable lambswool (care instructions below) and two colors of synthetic ultrasuede.. allowing you to craft your own combination of the two. The fit is flawless.. a perfect balance of tailored without being too tight. The hand is soft and will only get softer with repeated wash and wear. And with the expertise and meticulous quality of Johnstons, it's an heirloom piece that will serve you well one cold-weather season after the next.
For the order, choose your wool color, ultrasuede color, and your size. If you like, you can opt to leave off the ultrasuede altogether. We can make sizes 34 through 46. We recommend to order your true size in this sweater. It's not tight, so it should be an easy fit if you already own an Epaulet garment. The sleeves are on the longer side, but they can easily be cuffed to a shorter length.
This is an amazing opportunity to get a versatile, luxurious, and seriously macho sweater for Fall! Place your order by Thursday May 25th, and we'll put your Commando sweater into work! Delivery is estimated in Sept/Oct 2017 and we'll collect a balance of $140 at that time. As always, we're happy to answer any questions on sizing or colors.

Johnstons has produced the finest quality cashmere and fine woolen goods since 1797. Traditional craftsmanship and refined Scottish design - together with luxurious and sophisticated fibers- remain the foundation of the company's products today.
Wool was spun and made into cloth many years before the beginning of recorded history. Johnstons has carried on this tradition for over two centuries. They buy only the finest lambswool to ensure that all of their products are up to the highest quality and set to provide years of faithful wear. Each one is meticulously crafted in Scotland.
Care and Washing
Caring for this sweater is simple. Use a large protective mesh washing bag and place the sweater inside without too much folding. Wash the sweater on cold with a soap appropriate for wool (like Woolite). The less soap, the better. Use a gentle cycle and low speed spinning. Remove the damp sweater and spread it out on the top of a drying rack, supporting the body and letting the sleeves hang off. That's about it! Never put it into a dryer, and never spin it on high speeds, and the Commando Sweater will serve you faithfully through many a washing.
All measurements are shown in inches. Chest is measured laid flat from one armpit seam to the other. Shoulder is measured from one shoulder seam to the other. PLEASE NOTE: the shoulders seem narrow in measurements, but this is a knit item, and it's meant to stretch when worn. The shoulder measurement is quite normal and consistent with our typical fit. Sleeve is measured from the shoulder seam to the edge of the cuff. Length is measured from the rear seam under the collar to the bottom of the hem.
