Crafted in Portugal, the Renzo is our sleek goodyear welted Jodhpur boot. This particular makeup matches butter-soft Italian snuff suede to a double leather closed-channel sole. The flat welt is finished with a blonde, natural trim. The unique cross-strap design is visible beneath the cuff of your trousers, giving the boots a rakish look. The strap closes with a nickel-toned buckle and is secured to the front with a stitched-down loop.
Sizing & Fit
The Renzo sits on our "Lisboa" last, which has an elongated toe and a chiseled, tapered fit. It's a true medium width, but fits snug, especially on the first few wears. We recommend ordering one half size larger than your typical size. If you typically wear a 9, we recommend ordering a size 9.5. The boot should fit closely on the first try, as it will break in and stretch in both the width and the height. Having a correct and snug fit is important on a laceless style like the Jodhpur. For comparison, we recommend ordering a half size larger than the size you wear in Epaulet Trainers, and ordering one full size up from your Alden Barrie or Tru-Balance size. Given the shape of this last, it is not recommended for customers who take a wide fitting.
Goodyear Welt Construction
The Renzo is made with genuine goodyear welt construction at our exclusive Portuguese factory. This skilled firm has been family owned and operated for over 70 years, and they do some of the finest and most intricate work that we have seen anywhere. The sole is secured via a "closed channel," in which the bottom stitch is enclosed within the sole, giving longer wear, better performance in water, and a clean, elegant look.
About the Jodhpur Boot
Like a 1950s Jaguar Roadster, the Jodhpur boot is alternately sleek and detailed, and always in exactly the right places. We made ours on an narrow Mediterranean last, accentuating the unbroken line of the vamp. This minimal face shows off the boot's precisely chiseled profile to maximum advantage. Never forget, however, that this boot has a proud equestrian heritage, and will cradle your ankle firmly when you break into a brisk walk in the direction of your steed. As you do so, the Baroque signature of the boot is revealed -- the Jodhpur's leather strap twisting about the vamp with the je ne sais quoi of a rapier's crossguard. A sharper boot there never was.
