The Kamigata Jacket is our take on the noragi, a traditional Japanese farmer's jacket. In keeping with its inspiration, it has a banded shawl placket and a square bottom. But we added additional functionality with hip besom pockets, button cuffs, and a hidden interior button that allows you to close the jacket in front. You can wear it with the sleeves down or rolled up. Cuffs open or closed. Button the jacket to wear it like a cardigan or leave it open. The fit is slim and the armholes are tailored, ensuring a fit that's in step with our overall EPLA silhouette.
This is a very stylish piece that you'll find surprisingly easy to wear. It works effortlessly with chinos and cotton trousers, and matches nicely to alternate colors of denim jeans. The pockets are deep enough to hold your wallet, phone and other essentials. It's great layered under a heavier piece of outerwear as well.
This jacket is made in a gorgeous 9oz cross-hatch denim from Japan's esteemed Nisshinbo Mills. It has a light greyish blue tone and uses uneven slub yarn for both the warp and the weft. This gives it a grid-like pattern which will develop into a gorgeous criss-crossed fade with wash and wear. This item is fully pre-shrunk and machine washable.
Epaulet Los Angeles shirting is designed to be a casual counterpart to our Epaulet New York products. Made from start to finish at our workshop in Downtown LA, each piece is largely hand-made by a small team of craftspeople.
This EPLA jacket is intended to be consistent with our Epaulet New York shirts. If you take a medium in our EPNY shirts, you will most likely take a medium in this. It's sized to allow for a woven shirt to fit comfortably underneath. All EPLA pieces are pre-washed to remove shrinkage, so the initial fit will be accurate. We still recommend cold washing and hang drying for care. These fabrics are designed to age beautifully with wear, and hang drying will allow a natural fade to develop.
Sizing note: the Kamigata's body (shoulder, chest, armholes) is built off the pattern of our EPLA Engineer and Western Shirts. It's designed to fit over one of them, so the size is marked down one (ex. a Medium Kamigata has the body measurement of a Large Western Shirt). So if the Western shirt fits you comfortably in a Large, then a Kamigata in Large should fit well over the Western shirt.
