Stingray Sport Trainer Payment - Private - James

Never has there been a better leather for luxury trainers. Wear these for a day and you'll understand. Stingray went from being a staple of Samurai armor to the last word in Art Deco opulence. Known in 1930s France as "Shagreen", its organically pebbled texture is a thrill to touch as well as a natural defense against wear. Like the dynamic patina of a great museum calf, stingray's texture has an innate variability, its pebbles growing in size toward the "eye" — a remnant of the dorsal fin.

Twenty-five times more durable than cowhide leather, stingray is distinguished from its exotic brethren as a non-endangered species, as it is fished for food in southeast Asia. The most distinguishing feature is the white "eye" — each stingray only has one, and no two are exactly alike. These are truly one of a kind.

The EPLA Sport Trainer
The Sport Trainer is our modern day re-interpretation of the athletic shoes issued to the West German army in the 1970s. We've retained the clean lines, slim shape, and minimal design of the original - but we've upgraded all of the materials to offer a truly high-end product. They are made from start to finish in Portugal.

Epaulet Sport Trainers perfectly compliment the casual side of our collection. We're confident that they are the best product on the market at anything approaching this price. They'll wear in beautifully, and we believe you'll find them to be some of the most comfortable shoes that you have ever worn.

A German-made single-unit rubber sole provides great traction and a cushioned ride. A kidskin glove leather full liner extends throughout the interior, and a comfortable, removable insole cushions every step. Both whole and half sizes are available for a precise fit.

Epaulet Sport Trainers run true to size, and generally run consistent with Epaulet Tennis Trainers. If you typically wear a 10D in dress shoes, then we recommend ordering a US10 in these. For a comparison to our dress shoes, this size would correspond to a 10D in the Alden Aberdeen last, a 9.5D in the Alden Barrie or Tru-Balance last, and a 9UK in most Carmina lasts. Many of our customers also tend to wear the same size in these as they would in a Converse Jack Purcell or Vans Authentic - which can be a useful comparison for getting fitted locally.

For European customers looking at the EU size, we also recommend purchasing your typical size.
