Upper: Cognac Genuine American Bison Hide
Sole: Double Oiled Leather Sole with LongLife® Rubber Heel
Last: Smith Last
Designed in New York and made in Canada, the Calgary is our rugged plain toe boot. Using the tough construction of a workboot, we created a sleeker toe shape and a shorter vamp for a modern, distinctive look. Worn casually with jeans or dressed up with tweed or twill trousers, these boots are intended to compliment the full range of our in-house collection.
The upper is crafted in gorgeous American Bison Hide. Its 8-inch height has nine bright brass metal eyelets. The rear of the boot is double-tacked for comfort and heel support. A thick double oiled leather sole with a hand-set 270° will provide excellent grip, strong water-resistance, and miles upon miles of wear. The stacked leather heel is finished with a LongLife® hard rubber cap. A full glove leather liner runs throughout the interior, and the tongue is soft unlined deerskin. Both a steel shank and a natural cork filler run between the insole and outsole for excellent support while walking. As the Calgary boot is goodyear welted, it can be easily resoled by a local boot cobbler when the time comes.
Our genuine American Bison (a.k.a. Buffalo) leather is an exceptional quality skin. It has a soft and waxy finish that's easy to break in and quickly comfortable to wear. Its compact fibers make it stronger and more water-resistant than cowhide. Its surface has a distinctive and beautiful grain pattern which is entirely unique to each animal. No two bison boots will ever be the same! A regular brushing and infrequent light conditioning is all that's required to keep this long-wearing leather looking great from one year to the next.
Each Calgary boot requires nearly 200 individual steps for its construction. Since there is extensive handwork, some variations and hand-finished edges will be visible upon close inspection. These are part of of the boot's signature. Their quality is truly unmatched by anything else at this pricepoint.
