Upper: Oxblood Calfskin
Last: F-Last
Sole: Double Leather JR sole with flat welt and dark brown edge

The double monk is one of our most popular styles, and VASS executes this shape beautifully. Sitting on the F-last's rounded toe, it has two silvertone brass buckles, a stitched captoe, and VASS's signature curved arc between the straps. It's a supremely versatile style that moves effortlessly from dress to casual looks.

Handmade from start to finish in Budapest, Hungary, this particular shoe is crafted in gorgeous Oxblood calfskin. The tone is a very dark burgundy, and the color is quite subtle overall. Tanned in France, it's an excellent match to navy, grey, and brown trousers. It's incredible with denim as well.

The shoe sits on a hand-welted double leather oak bark-tanned sole from Joh. Redenbach in Germany. Made with an environmentally friendly vegetable tanning process, it provides exceptional comfort and longevity.

The Vass F-Last balances a slim and slightly tapered shape with a comfortable toe and a true medium width. It makes for a brilliant dress shoe while maintaining the "substantial" look that Vass executes so well.

For our Carmina customers, Vass F-Last sizing work approximately as such:

Vass F-Last 42 = Carmina 8UK = US 9D

Our Alden customers should calculate their Vass F-Last sizing as such:

Vass F-Last 42 = Alden Barrie or Trubalance Last 8.5D US = Alden Leydon, Aberdeen, Plaza 9D US

This sizing relativity may vary depending on the particular shape of your foot and how you prefer your shoes to fit, but we've found that this equation works well for most of our customers.

Laszlo Vass and his daughter Eva are the proud stewards of one of the finest mens shoemakers in the world. Inside their workshop in Budapest, a team of about 20 artisans sculpt each pair of stunning shoes by hand. And we literally mean "by hand" -- you won't hear the sound of a single machine as the shoes are lasted, assembled, and finished. Each pair of Vass shoes embodies the strict tenets of old-world craftsmanship and dedication to quality. Using many of the best shoemaking materials on earth, your Vass shoes will look brilliant, age beautifully, and provide years of faithful service and comfort. Epaulet is honored to be one of their select dealers.

As Vass shoes are Goodyear welted, they can be easily resoled and recrafted by a competent cobbler. In this way, you easily can get many years of regular wear out of Vass's quality shoes. Which is important, as you are sure to grow very attached to them.
