Carmina for Epaulet is a capsule collection of exquisite footwear made expressly for us.

"American" meets "European" in our Hawthorne penny loafer, a classic piece with unbelievable construction and comfort. Easily paired with both casual and dress looks, this penny loafer will be one the most versatile styles in your footwear wardrobe. It's just as handsome with a suit as it is with denim, and equally appealing with bright socks as it is sockless. This particular shoe is crafted in fine-grain French suede. The medium-brown "Snuff" has always been a favorite of ours. It matches just about everything wonderfully: navy suits, raw jeans, seersucker, grey flannel trousers, you name it. These are guaranteed to get heavy rotation in your wardrobe.

Carmina handsewn footwear uses genuine moccasin construction. With this, a continuous piece of leather forms a secure bond around your foot. It's an intricate process that requires extensive hand-labor and years of experience, but the result is well worth it. With true moccasin construction, the shoe can easily mold to the exact contours of your foot, yielding a final product that's extremely comfortable and satisfying to wear. They wear beautifully from day one, and the moccasin-stitched sole moves perfectly in tune with your foot.

In order to provide the long-lasting quality that our customers expect, we made three crucial tweaks to this shoe.
* First, the glove leather liner extends the full length of the shoe, protecting your foot from any stitching at the front and yielding an absolutely perfect barefoot fit if you choose to wear it that way.
* Second, we covered the sole with an additional protective layer of leather. This is crucial, as the typical handsewn sole will blow out once that bottom stitching comes in contact with the pavement (which happens after the channel protecting it wears down). Our additional layer of leather will provide significantly more wear before a resole is required. This is especially important for city-dwellers who do a lot of walking.
* And finally, we used a "Rolled English Moc" for the toe. A thin strip of suede covers the "butt" seam that you typically see on the top of a penny loafer, giving it a clean and polished look.

The Hawthorne sits on the Xim last, which offers a comfortable and full rounded toe. It's European handsewn styling with a heavy dollop of Americana.

Our Carmina for Epaulet shoes are produced in regular-width UK sizes. For the majority of our customers, ordering one size down from your true size yields the best fit. For example, you'd likely be an 8UK in Carmina if you typically wear a 9D US.

For our Alden customers, Carmina sizing approximately works with their lasts as such:
Carmina 8UK = Alden Barrie or Trubalance Last 8.5D US = Alden Leydon, Aberdeen, Plaza 9D US.

Of course, this sizing relativity may be different depending on the particular shape of your foot and how you prefer your shoes to fit, but we've found that this equation works well for most of our customers.

Founded in 1866, Carmina is a family-owned Shoemaker located on the gorgeous Spanish island of Mallorca. Owned by José Albaladejo Pujadas (the founder's great-grandson), his wife, and his sons, Carmina is world renowned for their exceptional craftsmanship and unflinching quality. Each shoe is Goodyear stitched with exceptional materials, old-world techniques, and elegant European lasts. This quality is also reflected in the excellent fit. In addition to their stunning looks, your first pair of Carminas will be among the most comfortable shoes that you've ever worn. Epaulet is honored to be one of their select dealers.

As Carmina shoes are Goodyear welted, they can be easily resoled and recrafted by a competent cobbler. In this way, you can easily get many years of regular wear out of Carmina's quality shoes. Which is important, as you'll surely grow very attached to them.
